Labiaplasty Candidates & Consultation

Am I a Candidate for Labiaplasty? Your Consultation Guide

Wondering whether labiaplasty is right for you is the perfect reason to read this page — and the perfect reason to book a consultation. Candidacy isn't about fitting a mold; it's about your health, your anatomy, and your goals. Here's how to think about it, and exactly what happens when you walk through our doors.

Ideal Candidate Traits

You may be a good candidate for labiaplasty if you:

  • Are bothered by the size, shape, or asymmetry of your labia minora — whether it causes physical discomfort (chafing, pinching during exercise or intimacy) or you simply prefer a different appearance
  • Are in good overall health, without uncontrolled medical conditions that impair healing
  • Are an adult who has completed puberty and development
  • Are at or near a stable weight — significant weight fluctuations after surgery can affect your result
  • Are not currently pregnant and not planning a pregnancy in the immediate future
  • Have realistic expectations — you understand what surgery can and cannot do
  • Are choosing this for yourself — your motivation is your own comfort and confidence, not someone else's preference

Our patients span a wide range: young professionals, athletes, mothers, and women well into their 50s and beyond. There is no "typical" labiaplasty patient.

When Labiaplasty May Not Be Right for You

Labiaplasty may not be appropriate if you:

  • Have an active infection in the surgical area (this must be treated and resolved first)
  • Have uncontrolled diabetes, bleeding disorders, or other conditions that significantly impair healing — your surgeon will review your history carefully
  • Are currently pregnant or recently postpartum (you'll need to complete your postpartum recovery first)
  • Have unrealistic expectations about the outcome — for example, expecting absolute perfection or a result modeled on someone else's anatomy
  • Are experiencing body-image distress that might be better addressed first with counseling — an ethical surgeon will tell you honestly if surgery isn't the right step right now

None of these are judgments — they're safeguards. A responsible surgeon would rather decline a procedure than perform one that isn't in your best interest.

Common Candidacy Questions

Is there an age limit for labiaplasty?

There's a minimum, not a maximum. Patients should be adults who have finished developing. Beyond that, healthy women of any age — 30s, 40s, 50s, and older — are candidates. Your overall health matters far more than the number.

Can I have labiaplasty if I've had children?

Yes. Many of our patients are mothers, and post-childbirth changes are a common motivation. You should simply be fully recovered from delivery.

What if I'm planning future pregnancies?

You can still have labiaplasty, but know that pregnancy and vaginal delivery can alter the appearance of the area afterward. Some patients prefer to wait until they're done having children; others choose not to put their comfort on hold. Your surgeon will help you weigh the timing.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed. You can book a consultation directly and confidentially.

What Happens at Your Confidential Consultation

Many patients feel nervous before their first visit. Knowing exactly what to expect helps — and our entire process is designed around your comfort and privacy.

1. A Private, Judgment-Free Conversation

You'll meet with our team in a discreet, serene setting and discuss — in your own words — what's bothering you and what you hope to achieve. There are no silly questions and no judgments. We've heard it all, with warmth and professionalism.

2. Your Medical History

We'll review your health history, medications, allergies, prior surgeries, and any relevant gynecologic history. This is how we confirm you're a safe candidate and plan your anesthesia and aftercare.

3. A Brief, Respectful Examination

A short private examination allows the surgeon to assess your anatomy, tissue characteristics, and symmetry. It's clinical, efficient, and handled with complete professionalism — most patients tell us it was far less awkward than they feared.

4. An Honest Assessment

The surgeon will tell you candidly whether labiaplasty is right for you, which technique (trim or wedge) best suits your anatomy, what result you can realistically expect, and — just as importantly — whether a different procedure (such as clitoral hood reduction or labia majora reduction) might address your concerns better. If surgery isn't advisable, we'll tell you that too.

5. Your Personalized Plan and Quote

You'll leave with a clear surgical plan, pre- and post-operative guidance, a transparent itemized quote, and answers to every question you brought. There's no pressure to schedule — the decision and the timeline are entirely yours.

How to Prepare for Your Consultation

  • Write down your questions. Bring a list — it ensures you leave with every answer you wanted.
  • Think about your goals. What bothers you most? What would feeling comfortable look like for you? There's no need for clinical language; plain words are perfect.
  • Bring your medical history. A list of medications, allergies, and prior surgeries is helpful.
  • Come as you are. No special preparation is needed.

Take the First Step — Confidentially

The consultation is where uncertainty turns into clarity. It's private, it's pressure-free, and it's the only way to get answers about *your* anatomy and your goals.
